How can I check out books?
How can I check out books?
Answer
HCCC students, faculty, staff, and alumni can bring stack books to any library service desk. Our staff will check them out for you. For more information, please visit our Borrow/Renew/Return page.
Patrons can also hold and pickup of books and DVDs.
1. Place holds:
Use our Library Catalog to search for items and put them on hold. Press the Place Hold button from the book page to begin a hold. You need to LOG IN TO YOUR ACCOUNT (Username: your HCCC email; Password: your 7-digit ID if never changed before) to place a hold on your account.
2. Wait for pickup notification:
When the item is ready, we’ll send you an email notification that the item on hold is available for pickup. Not sure if you missed a notification? You can also check your Available Holds in My Account. Once the email arrives, you can come to pick up from the chosen library directly.
3. Pick up from an HCCC library:
When you arrive to pick up your holds, call the pickup library to let them know you have arrived. Library staff will check out your items, put them in a bag and bring to the pickup table for you.
